2010 is bringing some exciting things in my life. one of these is a re-examination of my wardrobe. i often find myself crying out "i have nothing to wear", when the reality is - i have plenty. i just don't have anything i WANT to wear. why? because i don't buy the right clothes!
i buy clothes on sale.
i buy clothes that are cheap.
i buy clothes for special occasions.
i buy clothes i think look good on other people.
well, friends, i am done. done with purposeless clothes shopping. DONE. furthermore, i am done with hanging on to these pitiful clothes. who cares if they still fit? who cares if they don a designer label?
if it doesn't make it out of my closet,
it doesn't belong in my closet!
with that all being said, i am going back to the basics. the basics of a quality, fashionable wardrobe. thanks to my lovely friend, we came up with a pretty.genius list of items (both necessary & exhaustive). that's right - i am going to pair my closet down to just these items. can't wait to see what makes the cut!
ok this list is awesome, but it is still pretty comprehensive so you should be good to go.
ReplyDeleteDo I even own 30 dresses?
I think I need to go shopping haha.
well, i do own quite a few dresses, but there are a lot of items on this list i don't have. but i think would be beneficial for me to. so as i am shopping in 2010, i am going to stick to the list!
ReplyDeleteKatie, remember when the bar in your closet fell down from the weight of hugely beautiful, jam packed wardrobe! haha. Good luck with your change in clothes purchasing lifestyle! Miss you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip and inspiration. I am a victim of the following bad habits: buying clothes that are on sale, buying clothes that are too small in hopes of losing weight, and I buy clothes that look good on other people. It's time for some early Spring Cleaning for me also. Good luck on your list, it looks great!
ReplyDeletelots of comments here! This list really is a great one - even if it's something we just keep CLOSE to, it's better than my 18 undershirts taking up a whole drawer despite the fact that they are too small/short/frayed/thick/whatever. Multiply this issue by every type of clothing and you have my closet. UNTIL NOW!!! Can't wait to chronicle this journey with you.
ReplyDeletelove you moderneve!
I want to come shopping with you for your new wardrobe! Although I'm no good at sticking to that basics sort of stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
ReplyDeleteI am gradually accumulating giveaways too for the next Swap Party! :)
if you've got any rejects in my size, let me know ;) seriously, there's no way i even own that many items of clothing. i could use some help!
