weekend recap

weekend-recap

i highly recommend the the vip treatment at park on henderson. my college girlfriends and i received it friday night -- lots of attention, free appetizers, and an overwhelming sampling of desserts. all thanks to our single friend, who knew the manager. i ignored the calories and splurged on an apple martini and the chicken-fried steak, yum! got to love girl's nights!

while singing mice and birds did not wake me saturday morning, i did embrace the role of cinderella. something you need to know about me -- when i put my mind to something, i go all out. so, when i realized just how dirty our home had gotten, i tied my hair back with kerchief and got to cleaning. whistling, dancing, belting out taylor swift -- all made the process more enjoyable.

that evening, husband and i attended benefit supporting mission of hope'd efforts in haiti. while media attention has ended, i am so thankful that there are still people providing aid and support. on the way home, we decided to stop by our local blockbuster [who is not on my good side, i'm seriously considering netflix]. everybody's fine was out, so we settled on the time traveler's wife. eh, just okay.

we slept in on sunday and missed church, oops. later in the rainy afternoon, i ventured out for a necessary grocery trip at central market. everyone knows you don't go to central market on sundays [except me and all the other crazies -- i waited 10 minutes at the meat counter]. that evening, i prepared a lovely [if i do say so myself] meal for 4
premarital couples from the class husband and i help out with at watermark. bruschetta, baked ziti, roasted vegetables, and a spinach-apple salad. everyone cleaned their plates, which equals success for this cook. after dinner, i was able to catch the oscars just in time for sandra bullock's acceptance speech -- i hope some day i have a daughter that thanks me for not letting her ride in cars with boys until 18, so sweet.

  3. So ironic...we rented Time Traveler's Wife on Saturday night too...we should have watched it together! I thought it was decent...but lately anything sad about a mom, daughter, and dad makes me cry. AHHHH...I thought those tearful moments ended with the hormones??? guess not!

  4. We just watched Time Travelers Wife this weekend too! Agreed. Okay. When the movie was almost to the end, I found myself asking, "What was the point of this movie?" Every good movie has a conflict, but this movie didn't. The time traveling thing could have been expanded upon...
